Affiliate Sales and Ad Revenue

I'm always curious to hear thoughts from others on affiliate product earnings, ad revenue and other online money-making ventures. So here's the question; do you make more money through programs such as Google Adsense and Yahoo Publisher, or are you raking in the monthly earnings with affiliate programs? At this point I've heard various arguments and success stories for both methods of online earning.

Which is easier, marketing products and services via your websites and blogs with affiliate links, or, having ads automatically placed on your web pages? Hmm, they're probably comparable. Okay, so which method, ad revenue or affiliate sales, earns you more money? Lately I'm encountering a lot of people that tell me affiliate sales are the way to go, and that some payouts per sale are 50-75 percent. That could be quite lucrative, depending on the actual cost of the products and/or services they're marketing.

At this point I've dabbled some with both. Overall I certainly appreciate the simplicity of programs like Google Adsense, however, some affiliate sales can really pay out. Especially the ones that deal with memberships that allow you to get that sale every month the consumer keeps the membership. So, in the end it has been my experience that you can earn a much greater amount at once when you make an affiliate sale, whereas with ad revenue, you basically earn daily, but the individual earnings are smaller. Please offer any experiences you've had with ad revenue through programs like Adsense or Publisher, as well as your experience with marketing affiliate products.
